Drifting road cars // EVO ME Preview « Crank&Piston » Car Culture …

Earlier I stumbled upon a lovely article by Phill Tromans, posted earlier today, over on Crank&Piston entitled Drifting road cars // EVO ME Preview « Crank&Piston » Car Culture … that I would strongly encourage you all to read. Below are a few excerpts to pique your interest!

With the Formula Drift guys heading over from the US next month, EVO Middle East had a question – are the cars coming in on the boat any good to drift in stock road form? To find out, they took the Nissan 370Z Roadster, Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 and the Hyundai Genesis Coupe to Yas Marina and spent the afternoon sliding them about to find out. The proper Formula Drift cars will be doing the same thing at the same place on February 25. As you can see by these shots, all of the cars will slide, but which is the best for sideways action? Find out in the February issue of EVO Middle East, on newsstands next month. Share| Leave a Reply .

Now, reading this started me thinking so I had a quick search around for more posts on the subject and discovered some more gems! i.e. this post by Brian Gray, posted earlier today, on WickedMag:

It takes place on Saturday, January 29th at the Lewiston Sand & Gravel Pit off of Buttles Road. Parking is extremely limited. Admisssion is $5, however, organizers are providing free bus rides from Atlanta School and Lewiston Ace Hardware beginning at Noon. Details of those opportunities are available on the event website: www.sno-drift.org. Sno*Drift begins in downtown Lewiston Friday, January 28th at the 1:00pm Parc Expose. That’s essentially a car show before the competition day starts.

Yet another fantastic post came from hicars.org on Car news, pictures, specifications and wallpaper posted last week, entitled Video: Drift battle pits Mazda RX7 against Kawasaki ZX10 Pictures … which is also certainly worth a look.

The bike vs car debate extends into the drifting arena Regardless of where you stand on the “drifting is/isn’t a form of motorsports” debate, it’s fun to watch a car being piloted on full opposite lock. But is it possible on a motorcycle? Icon Motorsports rider Nick Brocha answers with a fat sideways-smoking yes. Icon may be know for providing gear for maniacs fans of two-wheeled transportation, but they also sponsor a team of skilled bikers. Brocha is one of those riders and he pits his modded Kawasaki ZX10 against Jim Guthrie and his Corvette-powered Mazda RX-7 drift machine.
