2000 Dead Cars Burn
Today I stumbled upon a good article by firegeezer, posted earlier today, over on Firegeezer entitled 2000 Dead Cars Burn that I strongly suggest all of you read. Here’s a few extracts in the hope of whetting your appetites!

Ten engines from the Vigili del Fuoco had to apply large quantities of water to dampen down the fire and they were on the scene for several hours.

They have a center that will take care of the battery and get it where it needs to go. You can also contact your municipal waste station and ask if they have a recycle center for batteries. Contact your local government to find out what resources are available to you in this regard. You may be surprised at how far along the government has come in being eco-friendly.

The students visited Car Transplants, in Wardle, Nantwich, a business which has to adhere to tough environmental laws and has invested in the latest technology. The group, accompanied by Motor Vehicle lecturers, were given a health and safety induction before being given a tour of the site by environment manager James Quinn. James Quinn said: “The days of leaving your car to rust in the scrapyard are long gone and we wanted to show students the different processes we go through here to recycle car parts and how we work to the highest possible environmental standards. “The group were able to see the administration process which takes place when the vehicles first arrive and then see how we de-pollute and dismantle vehicles, deciding what high value quick selling parts are removed for sale, with the shell eventually being crushed for metal recycling.
