Today I discovered a good article posted earlier today, by Terry Corcoran, and entitled Shrub Oak man stole from parked cars around Yorktown, cops say … that I strongly encourage everyone to read. Here are some extracts to pique your interest!

Police responded and were assisted in their search by state and Carmel police. Officers soon discovered that several other cars had been broken into. At the Jefferson Valley Mall, an officer spotted a man who matched the description provided by the woman at Club Fit. The man, later identified as Purdy, ran across Route 6 but was quickly captured. Police found on him several items that had been stolen from the parked cars, police said. On April 4, police searched Purdy’s apartment and found more items that had been stolen from parked cars, police said. He was charged with three counts each of fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree criminal mischief in the breaking car windows.

Now, reading this started me thinking so I had a quick search around for some other posts on the subject and uncovered some more greats! e.g. this post posted four days ago, by Rebecca Baker, on a blog called Completely Legal:

April 4 UPDATE: CLICK HERE TO SEE STORY AND PHOTOS FROM THE SENTENCING Stacey Pagli (left) will be sentenced to 20 years in prison tomorrow, April 5, for killing her 18-year-old daughter during an argument in the family’s Manhattanville College apartment last year. Pagli, 39, was allowed to plead guilty last month to first-degree manslaughter, after psychiatrists for the prosecution and the defense  concluded she was under an “extreme emotional disturbance” when she strangled Marissa Pagli on the Purchase campus. She originally was charged with second-degeree murder. Pagli’s lawyer has said she is currently taking medication for depression. Her family history includes mental illness and several suicides. Pagli attempted suicide after killing her daughter, and had at least one suicide attempt at the Westchester County jail, where she has been held since her arrest.

She will be eligible for parole in 2028, when her remaining daughter will be in her early 20s. This entry was posted on Monday, April 4th, 2011 at 4:09 pm by Rebecca Baker. You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0 feed.

Finally, another fantastic article came from admin on the390.com posted last week and entitled Lincoln Hall assault – UPSTATE NEW YORK'S INFORMATION HIGHWAY … which is also certainly worth reading!

02 April 2011 On March 28, 2011 at approximately 11:20PM, the State Police in Somers responded to Lincoln Hall on RT 202 in the Town of Somers for an assault investigation. Investigation revealed a 16 year male victim was asleep in his bed when he was attacked by 16 year old Alex Potrazo along with two male juveniles, ages 15 and 13. The victim was taken to Westchester County Medical Center where he was treated for contusions and swelling to his facial area—he was treated and released. Potrazo was arrested for assault in the 3rd degree; he was arraigned and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash/bond. The 15 and 13 year old juveniles were also arrested for assault in the 3rd degree; they were taken to Woodfield Cottage pending arraignment in family court.   Like what you read?
