Earlier I found a stimulating article posted earlier today, by Elizabeth, and entitled Vans x Hello Kitty Sneakers Line | Makeup Tips and Fashion that I urge all of you to read. Below are some little excerpts in the hope of whetting your appetites!

Check out the designs that you will be able to choose from in the following months. With so many brand collaborations this season, it is rather obvious that retailers are perfecting their skills as far as the consumer’s preferences are concerned. A well done brand collaboration can translate into huge profits for both of the parties while also boosting the popularity of the brands in the eyes of the customers. The collaboration between Vans and the global brand Hello Kitty is certainly one that will raise a lot of interest, especially among youngsters who are trying to spice up their outfits with fun and colorful statement accessories that immediately attract attention. The cute, feminine fictional symbol has been around for more than 35 years now, however, products that use Hello Kitty theme never fail to attract the attention of people of all ages. The irresistibly cute symbol will be featured in three different designs for the Vans limited edition line.

 [...]

All over prints with the cute symbol dominate the line, however, a checkered pattern is also available for those who would like to keep things simple and easy while also having more opportunities to match the shoes to different types of outfits. The Classic Slip-On, the Low Top and the Sk8 Hi D-Lo will be released this year in June. These fun shoes will be available in Vans stores, Vans dealers and Sanrio stores as well as online. Prepare to make a fashion statement with these absolutely adorable shoes that have the power to lighten everyone’s mood at the blink of an eye. Functional and entirely comfortable, these sneakers can provide a much needed break from killer high heels, while allowing you to remain fashionable and stylish. These wonderful Hello Kitty inspired shoes will have prices ranging from $25 to $37 for infants while the unisex Sk8-Hi Do-Low sneakers will be sold for $55.

Reading Elizabeth’s article started me thinking so I googled for some other articles on the subject and found some more greats. e.g. this post by Hype-Kills, posted back in January, on a blog called Untitled:

Hype-Kills | Jan 16, 2011 | Comments 0 Six years ago there was a limited edition pair of sb’s that cause a riot and masses of eager teenagers to go crazy for a sneaker that there were only  seventy pairs of. Back then the only way you knew about these releases were through close relationships with mom and pop sneaker shops.  There was nothing comparable to having a pair of sneakers you knew only seventy one other people would have. It made you feel like you were part of a secret society, or even a community of different people with one common thing a very dope pair of kicks. I remember a time when you only knew the location of certain sneakers shops was through word of mouth. A time when you had to camp out in the city for days with hundreds of other sneaker enthusiasts because you wanted that feeling of being the coolest guy in school. Back then sneakers were a symbol that showed people you weren’t part of the masses but a sneaker addict! Times have change people no longer have relationships with mom and pop sneaker shops, people are now buying sneakers solely to resell them, and sadly enough the youth are purchasing sneakers not knowing the background or even the athlete who wore the them.

 [...]

Today foot Action release sought after sneakers in the thousands, just the other week I seen the Uptempo 97 on sale for hundred dollars! Sneakers that revolutionize the 360 Air bubble and once sold online for $400 dollars, is now in the discount section. Midnight sneaker releases are a joke because the next morning you’ll see the same sneakers in Jimmy Jazz, Dr. Jays, or V.I.M for the same price. Today Sneaker materials are flimsy and cheap, the material and construction are not as good as they once were, while technology is improving it just seems craftsmanship no longer exist.  Nike is increasing the retail price for sneakers while cutting back on quality material, which helps them increase their revenue but leaves us ,the consumer, with shitty-constructed sneakers. At this point it doesn’t seem like the days of the limited edition sneaker will ever return, sneaker corporations throw this term around so often its getting more and more difficult to sort throw these so call limited edition releases. Two or three years ago a Futura did a collaboration with Nike that feature him designing a pair of Air force highs and low’s, the release was on a large scale and could be found throughout the city.

 [...]

What was so disappointing was the fact the Futura is an amazing artist and design one of the dopest pair of Nike Skateboarding sneakers ever, its just seemed like for this process he was obligated to a general design for the everyday consumer. This is just one of the many cases of an iconic figure failing horribly when it comes to designing a pair of kicks. The last pair true limited edition sneakers was the Air Yeezy it was the most sought after sneaker in the past ten years but even this amazing sneaker had a flaw, the packaging was terrible it was simply put in a regular Nike box. All great things most come to end I guess, what’s really disheartening is today’s youth will never truly experience the feeling of having a limited edition pair of sneakers to call their own.

Yet another fantastic post came from boke0001 over on Times of India, News, India Times, ePaper, Indiatimes posted four days ago, entitled The Nike company will release a limited edition Air Yeezy shoes which is also certainly worth a read!

http://www.cheapkanyewest.com/ To the United States has already retired basketball Nike Air Yeezy star named shoes and Chinese Zodiac combination seems a bit strange, but apparently deliberately Jordan (Michael Jordan) arrangements, because this year happens to be an important year for Jordan. Spring is known of the Jordan, he was born in Year of the Rabbit (1963) may be not surprising. Now, in the age of nearly 48 years of age, he is entering its fourth year, which is named in his shoes is full of Chinese style. The Year of the Rabbit Special Edition shoes shoebox design modeled on the red envelope, commonplace log trapeze silhouette surrounded the red and golden yellow color of the signature geometric patterns and Chinese characters.
