Courtesy of Harper Teen Summit Entertainment Confirmation On 18 March 2011, Summit Entertainment confirmed on its site that it has acquired the film rights to the very first book of author Veronica Roth entitled Divergent Harper Collins Excerpt Joy Glass, on behalf of Harper Collins, has sent me an excerpt of Divergent via email. The first nine chapters were more than enough to get me hooked, so I bought the book. Divergent Synopsis: In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself. Meet Author Veronica Roth If I were based in the US, I will try to attend one of the scheduled summer tour stops and ask whether there is a second book, as the ending of Divergent suggests. If you’re interested to meet Veronica Roth, she will be traveling with other authors to visit five cities as part of The Dark Days of Supernatural Series summer tour.
