Cars Toon Mater’s Tall Tales :: Wii Game Review

Earlier I discovered a wonderful post by Battle4NET, posted earlier today, and entitled Cars Toon Mater's Tall Tales :: Wii Game Review that I encourage all of you to read! Here’s some excerpts to pique your interest!

For example, the first level “Rescue Squad Mater” tells the story of the night Mater became a fire truck. Players need to make their way through a race, help put out fires, catch falling objects from windows and carry items out of burning buildings. Mater’s Tall Tales Based on the performance each level, players will be awarded with coins. These coins can then be used to upgrade the player’s vehicle. The more challenges the player completes, the better their car becomes. With more than 30 mini games, there are ample opportunities to upgrade. Zoom Zoom Mater’s Tall Tales stays true to the characters’ personalities. The games are simple but the controls make them challenging enough.

Reading Battle4NET’s post started me off thinking so I did a quick search for more posts on the subject and discovered some more nicearticles! e.g. this post by khabibkhan, posted yesterday, on a blog called Popular Tv Series:

[wikitvs.com] Desperate Housewives is an American television comedy-drama series Marc Cherry created by , who also serves as show runner, and produced by ABC Studios and Cherry Productions. Executive producers, as of the fourth season, are Marc Cherry, Bob Daily, George W. Perkins, John Pardee and Joey Murphy, David Grossman, Larry Shaw and Sabrina Wind. The setting of the show is the street of Wisteria Lane in the fictional American town of Fairview in the Eagle State. It follows the lives of a group of women, seen through the eyes of their dead neighbor.

They work through domestic struggles and family life, while facing the secrets, crimes and mysteries hidden behind the doors of their—at the surface—beautiful and seemingly perfect suburban neighborhood. The show is inspired, to an extent, by the 1999 film American Beauty. The show features an ensemble cast, headed by Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Van de Kamp and Eva Longoria Parker as Gabrielle Solis. Brenda Strong narrates the show as the deceased Mary Alice Young, appearing sporadically in flashbacks or dreams. Since its premiere on ABC on October 3, 2004, the show has been well received by the critics as well as the audience. The show is a multiple Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award winner, and in April 2007 it was reported to be the most popular show in its demographic worldwide, with an audience of approximately 120 million Desperate Housewives Opening Theme Video ——————————————————————————————————– Desperate Housewives Tv Show Genre : Comedy-drama, Mystery Created by : Marc Cherry Starring : Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria Parker, Nicollette Sheridan, Steven Culp, Alfre Woodard, Vanessa Williams, Ricardo Antonio Chavira, Doug Savant, Mark Moses, Andrea Bowen, Cody Kasch, Jesse Metcalfe, Richard Burgi, Kyle MacLachlan, Dana Delany, Neal McDonough, Shawn Pyfrom, Drea de Matteo, Maiara Walsh, Kathryn Joosten, Kevin Rahm, Tuc Watkins, James Denton Narrated by : Brenda Strong Theme music composer : Danny Elfman Composer(s) : Steve Bartek, Stewart Copeland, Steve Jablonsky Country of origin : United States Language(s) : English No. of seasons : 7 No.

Finally, another fantastic post on the subject came from Dean Takahashi over on VentureBeat posted a fortnight ago and entitled iPhone apps now more popular than major TV shows and sports … which is also definitely worth a look.

Given that most TV series air only 22 episodes per season, the allure for advertisers is clear. Apps are available 365 days a year, making their audience accessible to advertisers 15 times more frequently than TV audiences. “The most obvious [effect] is the impact on the advertisement industry, which has relied on the reach generated by its prime time television slot for years,” said Peter Farago, vice president of marketing at Flurry. For instance, on Oct. 5, CBS canceled Guiding Light, the longest-running TV drama (soap opera) in history. That show began in 1952 and ran for 72 years. This year, the show’s audience had dwindled to less than 2.1 million viewers per episode.

 [...]

Of course, the iPhone isn’t triumphant yet. There is no single app whose audience is so big that it can match the audience of a single most-popular TV show such as American Idol. But with the rate of growth of the iOS audience, that day is probably coming. Indeed, some apps such as Angry Birds, which has sold more than 7 million paid copies, are similar to TV shows, with regular updates coming out just as TV shows air new episodes.
