I recently found a lovely post by BenBrooks, posted yesterday, over on The Brooks Review » Articles entitled Thinking About Macs as Cars and Trying to Figure Out What the Hell … that I would strongly urge all of you to read. Below are some little extracts in the hope of piquing your interest!

Initially I was billing it as a bicycle, but I don’t think that fits. I think the best fit for the iPhone is actually your shoes. You can go most anywhere with just your shoes, but you are going to get damned tired of using just your shoes after a few miles. Yet your shoes are always with you. The Key So how do we decode the above information? Here’s a limited key for you: Luggage = storage space (think hard drives). “Going into the City” and Parking = storing your computer and carrying it with you. Versatility and Utility = ports and expandability. Passengers = nothing really.

Now then, reading BenBrooks’s post started me off thinking so I did a google search for some other articles on the subject and found some more gems! i.e. Interview: Apple execs discuss the new iMac posted three days ago, by Jim Dalrymple, on a blog called The Loop:

Mac By Jim DalrympleMay 3, 2011, 6:26 am PT Tweet Apple on Tuesday released a new line of iMacs, adding some powerful new features to its all-in-one line of computers. Company executives took some time to speak with The Loop about the release. One of the big new features of the new iMac is the addition of Thunderbolt, a new I/O interface that Apple and Intel introduced in February with the release of the MacBook Pro. Thunderbolt supports high-speed connectivity with storage systems and other forthcoming devices. With adapters it can work with Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire and USB peripherals, too.

In its most recent financial quarter, Apple said it sold 3.76 million Macs, a 28 percent unit increase over the year-ago quarter. In fact, Apple has outpaced the growth of overall PC industry for the last 20 quarters in a row, according to market research firm IDC. “A big part [of the success] is that we build great products,” said Moody. “People love this product and they see a great combination of hardware and software that they want to use everyday.

Finally, another fine article came from Matt Buchanan on Gadget Police posted yesterday, entitled How Fast Is the New iMac's Graphics Card? [Apple] which is also definitely worth a read!

How powerful is it? It was benchmarked it a few months ago. The bottom line? At the time, it was pretty fast (for Modern Warfare 2, at 1920×1080 with 4x AA and the highest detail settings it averaged 77.4fps), but not as fast as the fastest mobile chip, Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 480M series.
