Reading admin’s article started me thinking so I did a google search for some other articles on the subject and discovered some more greatarticles! e.g. posted last week, by Dave Roper, on a blog called HeyUGuys – UK Movie / Film Blog:

You are here: Home / News / Disney Pixar Premiere “Cars” Short ComingSoon report that Disney•Pixar premiered their latest Cars short, “Heavy Metal Mater” on the US Disney Channel last Friday. Co-directed by Rob Gibbs and no less than Cars creator and Pixar-head John Lasseter, Heavy Metal Mater’s synopsis runs as follows:- Mater is a rock star in a heavy metal band. He starts out in a garage band and rises to the top with his hit song, “Dad Gum.” Lightning McQueen joins him on stage in the middle of a huge concert and they rock into history.

Yet another fantastic article came from Samad over on The Pixar Times posted last week, entitled Michael Giacchino Returns to Pixar to Score Cars 2 | The Pixar Times which is also definitely worth a read!

Michael Giacchino at the Academy Awards In a profile on Incredibles and Up composer Michael Giacchino, Variety reported that he is currently working on developing the score for Cars 2. This is an interesting move considering frequent Pixar collaborator Randy Newman composed music for the original Cars. Giacchino first worked with Pixar on Brad Bird’s The Incredibles, and went on to score Ratatouille (again working with Bird). Most recently he provided the music for Up, winning an Academy Award for his work.
