Bumper fields of genuine Bathurst 1000 cars

Earlier today, I discovered a brilliant article posted earlier today, by Muscle Car Masters, and entitled Bumper fields of genuine Bathurst 1000 cars that I would suggest everyone reads. Here’s a couple of little excerpts to whet your appetites!

Even more cars have surfaced since then. This year’s Masters will again see standalone races for Group C (1973-1984) and A (1985-1992) respectively, before the two join together on the grid. On top of the bumper race field, many more Group C and A cars will participate in the Heritage Hotlaps or will be on site as static displays. The entire number of former Great Race cars at ECR will exceed 100. AMC is looking forward to hearing Allan Grice’s and Colin Bond’s tales about ‘Elvis’, the STP-liveried Commodore now owned by Ed Singleton. Earlier this year Singleton won a race at Bathurst in the car.

Now, reading Muscle Car Masters’s post got me thinking so I searched for more posts on the subject and found some more greatarticles! e.g. this post posted back in April, by admin, on a blog called Provincial Grand Lodge of West Lancashire:

Members and guests of Ashton Trinity Lodge No 8821 gave their support to Alan Grice a member of the lodge by their attendance at an Old Time Music Hall at Bryn Masonic Hall. Pictured from left to right, are: Clare Waller and Yvonne Tague (seated) and Geoffrey Porter (Vice Chairman of the Wigan and District Group of Lodges) and Alan Grice. The audience were entertained by the Liverpool Harmony Singers led by Clare Doyle. Alan Grice, thanked all who had attended for their generosity in donating prizes for the main raffle, which along with contributions from local shops, offices and businesses and other fund-raising activities on the night raised the princely sum of £700. Alan later presented a cheque to Mrs.Clare Waller the Ward Manager and sister Yvonne Tague at Wigan and Leigh Hospice, to assist with the purchase of a specialist bed-hoist for the In-patient Unit.

Another fine article came from Lubes Direct on lubesdirect.com.au posted back in March, entitled Toll Holden Racing Team celebrates its 21st birthday | lubesdirect … which is also certainly worth a read!

Win Percy in action at Amaroo Park in 1990 – HRT’s very first race (credit: Graeme Neander/Coventry Studios) The Toll Holden Racing has today come of age and is celebrating its 21st birthday. It is 21 years to the day since HRT made its race debut at the first round of the Australian Touring Car Championship, held at the now defunct Amaroo Park Raceway in Sydney on Sunday, 25 February, 1990. On that historic day, then-team manager Win Percy drove the team’s lone car on the day, the #16 VL Commodore SS Group A SV, finishing 14th after starting 16th. To mark the occasion, HRT held a party at its race headquarters in the Melbourne suburb of Clayton. Mayor Cr Ron Brownlees presents Craig Wilson with a commemorative certificate Current day drivers, Garth Tander and James Courtney were joined in the celebrations by team members past and present, and City of Kingston Mayor Cr Ron Brownlees. Tander and Courtney began the day by cutting a commemorative birthday cake.
