January 15 2009 Goodwood Rolls Royce Motor Cars has seen its 2008 sales increase by 20 per cent Last year the luxury car manufacturer retailed 1212 cars compared to 1010 the previous

Earlier I discovered a good article posted earlier today, by admin, over on Luxurious Asia – Online luxury magazine entitled 12 Rolls Royce cars get Italian motorcycle police escort in Lake … that I would encourage anyone to read! Below are a few extracts in the hope of whetting your appetites!

The Carabinieri were on hand to make sure there was a smooth path for the procession, skillfully escorting the £4m line-up or Rolls Royce cars through winding streets and small villages. Framed against the stunning and scenic background of Lake Como, the Rolls Royce cars were driven by customers and a selection of VIP guests. The route started at Villa d’Este in Cernobbio, ending in Gravedona where the customers and guests were shuttled across the lake on three J-Craft Torpedo motor cruisers, for lunch in Bellagio. “This was a truly amazing experience in one of Europe’s most beautiful locations”commented Torsten Muller-Otvos, CEO Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “We know the Italians appreciate the finest things in life – and we have the Carabinieri to thank for making sure our guests arrived for lunch with broad smiles on their faces.” A selection of Rolls-Royce Phantom, Phantom Drophead Coupé, Phantom Coupé and Ghost models took part in the procession. The experience came as a fitting end to Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza celebrations, one of the world’s most exclusive motoring events which was held over the weekend of 22 and 23 May.

Reading this got me thinking so I did a google search for more articles on the subject and uncovered some more greats. e.g. this post posted yesterday, by Auto Buff, on Car Chute:

With Mercedes posting early 2011 figures up by 14 per cent on the previous year, and Bentley stating that the region accounts for one in every 10 of their cars sold globally, the motor show is sure to draw customers and companies looking to invest in elite brands. George Duncan, general manager of Bentley Emirates said: “We are in a region that is synonymous with luxury vehicles and there is every sign of that bond growing stronger. The Bentley, Bugatti and McLaren brands typify the classic images of prestige motoring and there is no doubt that Middle East owners and drivers expect the ultimate products.’ ‘The Dubai show is an excellent way for us to present those products and also for our potential clients to experience them. For us it is an essential date in the diary,’ Duncan added. Top brands which have already signed up for the show include Audi, Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Infinity, Jeep, Kia, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, Lexus, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo. The first time exhibitors include Invader Technologies, Lotus, MG, McLaren and Spyker, he said.

Yet another fantastic article came from Carlton Boyce over on The Global Herald posted last week, entitled Rolls-Royce Opens New Showroom in Malaysia which is also definitely worth a read.

The New Rolls-Royce Showroom in Malaysia Rolls-Royce Motor Cars opened its first showroom in Malaysia today, bringing the total number of its outlets in the Asia Pacific region to 18. The showroom in Kuala Lumpur was opened by Paul Harris, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Asia Pacific Regional Director, who said: “We continue to invest in a Malaysian market buoyed by the country’s economic growth and growing appetite for super-luxury cars. Our presence signals our commitment to providing service support for current and future customers, many of whom are new to the brand.” The showroom has space for three Rolls-Royce cars to be displayed as well as an area for customers to discuss their potential purchase and decide which combination of exterior and interior trim they would like to specify on their new car. The cars themselves will be built in the Roll-Royce factory at Goodwood, West Sussex.

Women driving cars?

Recently I found an awesome article by The Sarcasmist, posted yesterday, and entitled Women driving cars? that I would strongly suggest everyone reads! Here’s a few extracts in the hope of piquing your interest!

As is always the case, Islamic religious scholars know what’s best for people (especially when it comes to women’s rights), and have decided that women have no place behind the wheel of an automobile. It was as the consequence of this fatwa, in Saudi Arabia, that Manal al-Sharif, a woman who posted, on YouTube, a video of herself driving, was arrested this past Sunday and will most likely spend the rest of the week in prison. My first impression was critical of the Islamic scholars, but what is so great about women drivers? We’ve seen what they have done to the automobile industry. Car manufacturers, in pursuit of pleasing women drivers, have made the modern day car into a gasoline-powered baby carriage as opposed to the symbol of male virility that it is supposed to be.

Now then, reading this started me off thinking so I did a quick search for some more articles on the subject and found some more greatposts. For example, this post by elsa, posted earlier today, on a blog called Sex Partner City Blog:

Recently I found an awesome post by cosbylinkvine, posted earlier today, and entitled Who Needs Custom Disability Cars that I would encourage you all to read. Below are a few extracts in order to pique your interest!

Constables Mobility is a company which modifies cars so that they are suitable for wheelchair users and their families. In a recent article published on their website Constables showed that they could put in adaptations in a few hours or completely rebuild a car in under a week. Cars they have available for you to have modified to your own special requirements include theCitroen Berlingo , the Peugeot Tepee and the Renault Kangoo. When you get a modification from Constables it’s not just a case of fitting a different seat or lowering the chassis, it’s a complete rebuild which is tailored specifically to you, there is over an hour’s consultation where they measure you up and assess your needs before the rep takes himself off to get your car built. Fuel tanks are moved, doors widened, roofs raised or floors are lowered, new seats and straps are fitted so that you will be as mobile and independent as you can be. These days independence is important, as is being able to move about without the help of public transport, what with the most recent government cutbacks being implemented in the provision of public transport for the elderly or disabled disguised as an opportunity to provide choice and diversity.

Reading this article started me thinking so I did a google search for more posts on the subject and uncovered some more greats! e.g. Constables Mobility Exhibiting at Progress Future Placement Forum … by Nikki Marshall, posted last week, on Constables Mobility:

Constables Mobility will be displaying one of their newest conversions, the award winning Citroën Berlingo, a modern car that is a real pleasure to drive. I recently found a brilliant article by admin, posted yesterday, and entitled PI Newswire :: New Sales Tax on Armored Cars, Security Services … that I would strongly suggest all of you read. Here are some extracts in order to whet your appetites!

Posted on May 24, 2011 by admin With mere days until the D.C. Council’s budget vote next Wednesday, it appears that Chairman Kwame Brown (D) is prepared to broadly restore cuts to city social programs — including homeless services and temporary assistance to the disabled. But how to pay for it remains a matter of debate. Several council members who have met with Brown in the past two days said that he is strongly considering a proposal to charge income tax for the first time on municipal bonds not issued by the District, in lieu of increasing the income tax on residents earning more than $200,000 per year, as Mayor Vincent C. Gray (D) has proposed.

 [...]

States typically offer a tax exemption only on public bonds issued within their own borders, but the District, dating back to the pre-Home Rule days when it didn’t issue bonds of its own, has offered a broad exemption for all municipal bonds. The proposal is expected to generate $13.4 million for the city in fiscal 2012, and considerably more in subsequent years. Gray is holding fast to his plan to increase the income tax rate, which is expected to raise more than $18 million, and he has asked council members to support the hike.

Now, reading this article started me off thinking so I did a quick search for some more articles on the subject and discovered some more gems! i.e. D.C. Mayor Vince Gray won't veto budget over income tax rate … by kevin, posted yesterday, over on Best Income Source:

Mayor Vince Gray won’t veto a D.C. Council-approved budget simply because it lacks his proposal to raise the income tax rate for the wealthy, a source close to Gray told The Washington Examiner. The veto pen would only come out if the budget the council passes steers away from Gray’s priorities to reform the city’s special education system, add dollars to the schools budget and maintain funding for public safety agencies, the source said. Gray has also quietly told council members he’d like to see full funding for homeless services after he cut $19 million in his original budget proposal, council and administration sources said. The mayor has also expressed interest to council members in raising the police force to 3,900 officers by September 2012 by using dollars from an expected jump in revenue projections scheduled to come out next month. The police department currently has about 3,850 officers and Chief Cathy Lanier has said it could be “trouble” if the force falls below 3,800. Gray’s original propsal would have added about 120 officers, but that would not have kept pace with attrition. The department is losing about 15 officers a month to retirement.

Yet another fine post on the subject came from nofullstop on Business Directory Blog posted earlier today and entitled Countries With Low Income Taxes which is also certainly worth a look!

As per stats of May 2009 Montenegro offered the flat tax rate of 9 percent for businesses. Countries like Cyprus, Serbia, Bulgaria offered tax rates of 10 percent for businesses. The number increased in few countries yet it was comparatively very low when compared to countries like Australia, US and UK where tax rates for businesses could easily cross 30 percent. These countries with low income taxes for businesses were Romania (16 percent), Hungary (15 percent) and Latvia (12.5 percent). In another attractive revelation the nation of Monaco took no tax from individuals as of May 2009.

Yet another fantastic post on the subject came from opher over on knowabit.com posted back in March and entitled Finding Reliable Used Cars Under $2000 on Craigslist which is also certainly worth a look.

However, especially in this price range there are many pitfalls to avoid as described below.Choosing the Make, Model and Year Car You Should be Looking ForEspecially with cars under $2000 you want to stick with reliable makes, since all legitimate cars in this price range will have high mileage. Some of the more reliable makes are Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Infiniti and Acura. You can (and should) look through a recent Consumer Reports cars issue (April each year) for reliability scores by class, make, model and year. Identify the makes and models you’re interested in based on their reliability score, size, engine power, air conditioning, transmission type, etc. Then, look up typical pricing for the ones you’re interested in, by year, at Edmunds.

 [...]

Whatever the case, you will either end up with no car, or with one you wish you never laid eyes on.Some examples found in the Baltimore Craigslist as of this writing, and where supreme caution is advised include a “Superbe 2005 Honda Acccoorrdd EX-L” for $2000 where Edmunds shows no EX-L for that model year, and the EX model has an Edmunds “True Market Value” (TMV) in excess of $10,000, and a 2005 Toyota Camry XLE for $1930 where Edmunds shows a TMV of nearly $9,900. More reasonable, but still an exceptional deal might be a 1998 Infiniti I30 for $1850 where the Edmunds TMV is $2906. Perhaps the mileage of this Infiniti is higher than one would expect for that model year, or some cosmetic issues are causing the seller to reduce his or her asking price.Once you identify potentially interesting ads, contact the sellers and set up a time to meet and test-drive the car.

Things To Keep In Mind When Buying Used Cars From Japan » Articles …

Earlier I came across a brilliant post posted earlier today, by integrityexports, and entitled Things To Keep In Mind When Buying Used Cars From Japan » Articles … that I would urge everyone to read. Here are a few little excerpts in order to whet your appetites!

One way to ensure that the whole process is airtight is by finding out exactly how this particular site’s services will work, and a good way to do this is by entering into a dialog with the staff at that particular export company. What you will discover is that there are very few used Japanese car exporters who will really give you good service and com. You may feel like this is a waste of time, but really it is a very effective way of weeding out the poorer options. One thing to keep in mind is that you have to have a bit of patience once you do purchase your used cars in Japan, as it can take up to three weeks or to get paperwork organized and shipping booked. On top of this, remember that in addition, there is still the time of the voyage when your vehicle is transported over to you by ship. You may be feeling a little overwhelmed, and that is not surprising if you have never done anything like this before. That’s OK. Just take it step by step and do your rescarefully.

Reading this article started me off thinking so I had a quick search around for some other articles on the subject and discovered some more goodarticles! e.g. Things To Keep In Mind When Buying Used Cars From Japan | All … posted earlier today, by integrityexports, on a blog called All-Insight Articles:

If there is no demand, or if there is demand but no profit to be made, then there is little point proceeding. Then, secondly, you need to look into whether your local regulations and laws will actually permit you to import the cars you are considering ? and if they do, then what will be the cost in taxes and other similar fees? The next stage when importing any car from Japan is to find a used car exporter over there who will be a good, reliable partner to you in your purchasing. So when looking online for a broker that deals with used cars from Japan, the first thing you want to make sure of is that this broker has a good reputation. Once you have found a reputable online used car dealer, the next step is to read their terms of business very carefully. Keep in mind that when you import Japan used cars, you need to find out exactly what is included in the overall price. For example, when you puryour used cars FOB, it means that although the Japan side costs are included, the cost of shipping is not. On top of this, once your vehicle arrives at the destination port, you will be responsible for paying taxes, duty, registration and, potentially, compliance.

Medtronic, Ford Build Dashboard Glucose Monitor For Cars

Posted in Uncategorized on May 24th, 2011 by cars2scrap – 417 Comments

you regularly monitor your blood sugar to avoid risks of complications as well as other disorders and using blood sugar testers is a good way of maintaining a safe blood glucose level Types Of Blood Sugar Testers

I recently came across a great post by Rebecca Mallett, posted earlier today, over on Bizmology entitled Medtronic, Ford Build Dashboard Glucose Monitor For Cars that I strongly encourage everyone to read! Here’s some little extracts in order to pique your interest!

Medical device maker Medtronic and Ford Motor Company are partnering to create an automotive glucose monitoring system for diabetic drivers. The project, which is still in the development phase, links Ford’s Sync technology to a Medtronic glucose monitor through a Bluetooth device. The built-in, hands-free device displays the driver’s blood glucose level on the car’s dashboard and alerts the driver when the level gets too low. Much like a GPS voice that says, “turn right here,” this device could say, “warning: blood glucose level is low.” The in-car monitor could help diabetics check glucose levels while on the go and reduce driving risks. Low blood sugar, or hypoglycemia, can cause dizziness, lack of coordination, and confusion. Diabetic drivers have been known to pass out at the wheel or swerve into traffic when blood sugar drops too low.

 [...]

Accidents could be avoided if drivers are alerted of glucose levels and stop driving. The device would also prevent diabetics from having to manually test glucose levels while driving, which can be dangerous. While the device could potentially help many people and meet a demand for mobile health care solutions, it has also raised some concerns. For example, if a diabetic driver does not stop driving after the in-car monitor alerts the driver of low blood sugar, what are the legal implications? What if the device malfunctions which leads to an accident? Could diabetic drivers eventually be required to have such devices in their cars? The device is still a prototype, but many of these questions will probably need answers before the project enters the market. The in-car glucose monitor project is part of a larger initiative for both Medtronic and Ford. Medtronic is partnering with other companies to integrate its medical devices into mobile products, such as smart phones, laptops, and iPads.

 [...]

Ford is working to launch similar projects that can help people monitor other chronic illnesses, such as asthma or allergies, while in their cars. Ford is collaborating with companies like WellDoc and SDI Health to develop new automotive health care technologies. These partnerships could make medical monitoring devices more available and improve health care, while also helping the companies’ bottom lines. ~ Photo by Ian Mutto, used through a CC-Share Alike license. Reading this article started me thinking so I did a quick search for some other posts on the subject and discovered some more greats. e.g. Diabetes Blood Sugar: Having A Diabetes Blood Sugar Level Is … by unknown, posted last week, over on Hypoglycemia:

You will not look the same.  A diabetes blood sugar level is aging the cells faster than a health persons cells. If you have a high blood sugar it is a signal that the pancreas is already dying out in the body. This is very dangerous and can lead to serious health problems or death. Those with high blood sugar can lose fingers and toes. Many diabetics will have to have their legs removed.

 [...]

This is a diet that has been shown different than the typical diabetes diet, this diet heals the pancreas and many stop their medication. The worst thing a person with diabetes blood sugar can do is wait. Never wait the damage has already started in the body. If you want to stop diabetes blood sugar you can see the filmmaker’s diet here http://spirithappy.wordpress.com/new-type-2-diabetes-diet-cure/   .

Diabetes Warning Sign: Thirst One of the first symptoms of type 2 diabetes may be an increase in thirst. This is often accompanied by additional problems, including dry mouth, increased appetite, frequent urination — sometimes as often as every hour — and unusual weight loss or gain. Diabetes Warning Sign: Headaches As blood sugar levels become more abnormal, additional symptoms may include headaches, blurred vision, and fatigue. Diabetes Warning Sign: Infections In most cases, type 2 diabetes is not discovered until it takes a noticeable toll on health. One red flag is troubling infections, such as: Cuts or sores that are slow to heal.

XENONH1 Xenon headlights HID conversion kits for H1 single filament bulbs

Today I stumbled upon a good article posted earlier today, by joh, over on Quadbike forum > ATV Forums > Forums > Quad bike Forum > Quad Sales Forum > The Best UK Forum entitled Xenon headlights that I strongly suggest all of you read! Here’s a few excerpts in the hope of whetting your appetites!

Hi, I’ve been wandering around on some German forums and have found that some members have installed xenon headlights for their Bashans. Has anyone here done that? I checked DealExtreme and there are HID kits sold pretty cheaply – for less than $50.. you get 2 lights from that kit so you can split the price with a friend or something.Buy Vehicle Headlights, HID headlight, HID headlamp, HID Kits, and More Car Accessories – DealExtreme From what I know, the default headlight is 35W/35W.. Ford Unleashes the Strength of All-New Freestyle . My final tip is to always check about 10 other cars from various dealers or private sales of the same type to ensure that the price you are paying is not over the top and always offer less for the car than the asking price. Now, reading befedovufoq’s post started me off thinking so I did a google search for more posts on the subject and uncovered some more greats. i.e. this post by christucker66, posted earlier today, over on Elisha Online:

It will verify things like the previous owner of the automobile, mileage knowledge related to the car and if there are any problems regarding finance or insurance. When going to have a look at a second hand automotive offered by a non-public buyer you should take into account taking someone with you who is aware of about cars. If you do not have someone who knows sufficient about cars and what to look for when buying second hand then it might prevent money and heartache in the long term if you had been to pay a mechanic to go and look over the car with you earlier than committing yourself to purchasing it. When buying privately just remember to study as a lot as you may about the make and model of the particular automotive that you are going to look over. Do a web based search by way of used automobiles for the model and make sure that you have an excellent thought of what that exact make and model is selling for. This car was a Volvo. It was small, it would get decent mileage for a regular car and it was a manual shift. Once I had found one car that might be right for my daughter, I started noticing more of the same. Not the same exact vehicle, but others like it. I wasn’t sure if it was simply the price range I was in, or that in finding the car that might be it helped me see what I was really looking for. I saw a Volkswagen, a Ford, a Dodge and more that all seemed just perfect. They were all in the same price range as well.

Earlier I found a great article by peixesloucos, posted earlier today, and entitled road companions ? collection of vintage cars that I would encourage you all to read. I’ve included some extracts in order to pique your interest!

Here his van with the decoration. This is Belgium! Do not surprise cars can use beer to run. By the way Beermania is a great shop to buy beer and collection glasses. You have to be careful with your motorbike or bike in Brussels. Get a robust lock! I enjoy our old road companions but I have to admit go for electric cars to drive.

Now then, reading this started me thinking so I googled for more articles on the subject and uncovered some more greatarticles. e.g. Fast Pocket Bikes for the Fastest Road Companions by admin, posted back in April, over on Rocky Bike Zone:

Like regular motorcycles, fast pocket bicycles too come in different varieties. Quality and durability are the two key characteristics you should usually look for while planning to purchase a fast pocket motorcycle. For this, it is better that you turn to several reputed companies. Mini pocket bikes are light in weight and so they can easily be transported from one place to another.

They are quite fast with sophisticated 2-stroke racing engines. They have hair-trigger acceleration and can easily hurt you if you are not familiar with fine motor skills.
Therefore, it is essential for you to know that it is a pleasure and a skill to go riding with a pocket fast motorcycle on road. Before you plan to purchase, be sure to gather some information about the model you opt to buy.

Another fantastic post on the subject came from Durc over on Its an Anywhere Road posted last week and entitled In which the author and companions are chased by sealions | Its an … which is also certainly worth a read.

In fact, any animal with teeth pointier than mine that I encounter in the open ocean while I bob along in a tiny plastic kayak is a creature that I have a very deep, albeit fear-based, respect for.  Except for sea otters. They are just too goddamn cute to be intimidating We were out kayaking one day, minding our own business, when a pack of sealions, the terrors of the ocean, came at us.  Our little kayak platoon spotted them and observed from a healthy distance for a minute or two, then turned and began paddling away.  That was all well and good, but then they followed us. It’s a very surreal feeling to have a group of big wild animals that are completely unafraid of you just come up to check you out. Especially when you are in a situation where you have no control over what the animal feels like doing. We were all mildly freaked out, you can hear it in the nervous laughter.

 [...]

Just before the video starts, Shona voices the opinion that the sea lions must think we are “fleeing” from them, and are instinctively giving chase.  The story unfolds from there.  If you were wondering, we all made it safely to a nearby island.  And if you think I’m just being silly here, google “sealion attack” sometime.  I don’t think we were really in any danger, but they wanted us to go away, and had no problem with showing us the door.
